There’s little known about Dis, a 17-year-old grime / hip hop artist from London. Yet the young rapper caused a stir when she joined Kenny Allstar for her Mad About Bars Freestyle a month ago. Her confident, dry flow and sharp, pointed lyrics caught the attention of UK bloggers, in the wake of which Dis has dropped ‘Cheeky’ and now ‘Baby Boy’, a twisted homage to Beyonce and Sean Paul’s hit by the same name. With a flow not dissimilar to MizOrMac and a swagger to rival Nadia Rose, ‘Baby Boy’ leaves you confident that Dis will be a new challenger to the UK grime scene which excitingly is becoming more and more female led. With artists like Lady Leshurr and Paigey Cakey hoping to make their mark in 2017, Dis will have her work cut out – but with tunes as solid as ‘Baby Boy’ things are looking promising. - HM
